Hello,
the last week I was busy preparing a PowerPoint presentation on the technique
of gilding and restoration. The Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild, of which I am a member, invited me to give a talk about my work. I enjoyed it very much despite my "English".
I also continue working on the restoration of the Masonic mirror frame.
After removing all 4 layers of paint, and getting to a very clean surface, I applied the gesso (gypsum) in areas where it was missing and worn. I also made the shapes of the pearls on the molding.
Now I am sanding the gesso. Flat areas are almost completed but the pearls on the molding are taking me much longer. This is because I did not use molds, for the pearls, but did them freehand.
